On 19 February 2023, the Indian Cricket Board announced the squad for the upcoming home ODI series against Australia. But, Deepak Chahar still missed a place in the squad. He was out of any cricketing action due to several injury setbacks in 2022. Chahar did not play in the last edition of the Indian T20 League for the Chennai franchise.

He made a comeback for team India in the ODI series in Zimbabwe. Recently, he played for the Men in Blue in the ODI series in Bangladesh. But, in the second ODI, Deepak Chahar bowled only three overs and left the field with a likely hamstring injury. Along with it, his persistent back issues have been a cause of concern for the team.

Both Deepak Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah are set to make a comeback in the Indian T20 League 2023

For the Indian T20 League 2022, the Chennai franchise bought this pacer for a whopping amount of INR 14 Crores. So, it was a huge loss for MS Dhoni and his men. In two ODIs against the Bangla Tigers, he took just one wicket. After that injury, one of the members of the selection committee said: “He is getting there but still not at 100%. Deepak has had a series of injuries. So, it’s important not to rush him. He is with the team and once the team physio feels he is at 100%, he will play. He will be an important player for India.”

Now, reports have come out that the pacer is fully fit and will be available for the Indian T20 League 2023. As of now, Deepak Chahar has played 13 ODIs where he has scored 203 runs in nine innings, including two fifties. He has taken 16 wickets so far. In 24 T20Is, he has taken 29 wickets at an average of 24.24. But, fans have found a different angle to this news as players like him and Jasprit Bumrah are getting fit for playing in the Indian T20 League. These players have missed a lot of international cricket in recent times for team India.

Here is how fans have reacted to the news of Deepak Chahar getting fit for the Indian T20 League 2023:
