The 14th match of the Lanka Premier League kicked off between table toppers Dambula Aura (DMA) and Galle Titans (GLT) who were at the bottom. DMA won the toss and chose to bowl. The Galle Titans could not get going as they lost openers Tim Seifert who was castled by Binura Fernando for 15 off 12 with one six and Shevon Daniel was caught by Dushan Hematha off Dhananjaya de Silva.

Chad Bowes came in at number three and 22 off 18 balls with three fours. When he was bowled by Hemantha, it triggered a middle-order collapse as Shakib Al Hasan, Ashan Priyanjan and Sohan de Livera all fell soon after. The only saving grace for GLT was captain Dasun Shanaka who hit 26 off 26 balls with five fours to take GLT to a total of 133-9 in their 20 overs.
It was a comprehensive bowling performance from DMA as all the bowlers took a wicket each in their respective spells. The best bowler for DMA was Hemantha who picked up 2-31 in his spell of four overs. In the run chase, it was very clinical from DMA as to how they went about business. Avishka Fernando was the hero with the bat for DMA.
Avishka Fernando smashed an unbeaten 70 off 49 balls
The right-hander played an amazing knock of 70 off 49 balls with three fours and three sixes and stayed unbeaten. It was a clinical inning from him which gave DMA the win. Captian Kusal Mendis did not have the best of outings as he was dismissed for 18 off 24 balls with one four.
There were also contributions from Sadeera Samarawickrama who hit 25 off 18 balls with four fours coming in at number three. The GLT bowlers could not pick up early wickets and this was the clincher. Lahiru Kumara was the best bowler for GLT as he took 2-31 in his four overs. Shakib picked up 1-20 in his four overs.
DMA will play Colombo Strikers in their next game on 12 August. Galle Titans will take on Jaffna Kings on 13 August, GLT need more wins other than the two they have already got to try and stay in contention for the playoffs.
