Here is how fans have reacted to the six-wicket victory of JK over CS in Pallekele in the ongoing LPL 2023

On 8 August 2023, Jaffna Kings (JK) took on Colombo Strikers (CS) in Pallekele in the 13th game of the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL). Both teams were tied with four points in the table before this clash, Hence, both of them were looking for a win to strentgthen their chance to get qualified for the next round.

Speaking of the match, CS skipper, Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bat first. Both Babar and Pathum Nissanka managed a solid start as they lost their first wicket on 57 runs in seven overs. Nissanka got out on 36 runs off 25 balls while Babar got out on 24 runs off 21 balls. Lahiru Udara scored 29 runs while Mohammad Nawaz scored 27 runs and Chamika Katunarate scored 21* runs.

Thus, they finally scored 146 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. For JK, Dilshan Madushanka and Dynith Wellalage took two wickets each. Along with them, Shoaib Malik, Nuwan Thushara, and Maheesh Theekshana took one wicket each. In reply, JK also managed a blistering start, courtesy of their opening pair of Nishan Madushka and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. They put up a 58-run partnership for the first wicket in 5.2 overs. Madushka scored 46 runs off 32 balls while Gurbaz scored 39 runs off 21 balls.

Apart from them, some significant contributions came from the following batters as JK managed to chase down the target in just 14.3 overs with six wickets in hand. With this win, they also boosted their net run rate and currently, they are in the third spot at the table with six points from six games. While CS are in the fourth spot with four points from five games. Wellalage won the Player of the Match award and during the post-match presentation, he said: "I want to thank by skipper and my bowling group for giving great support. I always trust myself and do the basics, and try to handle the match situation as best as I can."
