Chennai are yet to win a game in the Indian T20 league 2022 as they once again displayed an underwhelming performance. Punjab were simply too good for the MS Dhoni-led side. The Mayank Agarwal-led side beat Chennai rather convincingly.
After being asked to bat first, Punjab lost two early wickets, and looked in all sorts of trouble. While the Punjab skipper perished in the first over, Bhanuka Rajapaksa had to depart due to an unreal run out by Dhoni. After which, Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Livingstone came together to play the rescue act. The English all-rounder finally showed why all the experts rate him so highly in the shortest format of the game.
He went on to score his maiden half-century in the Indian T20 league. He was dismissed by the Chennai skipper for 60 off just 32 balls. At the end, Punjab got to 180-8 in the first innings. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers for the defending champions as he picked two wickets, while giving just 23 runs.
During the second innings, Chennai once again had a batting collapse as their top-order perished rather cheaply. The yellow army saw a lot of soft dismissals. Debutant Vaibhav Arora was impressive as he gave just 21 runs in his full quota of four overs, and also picked two wickets.
The onus was then on Shivam Dube and Dhoni. However, the ask was just too much for them to achieve. Things went downhill after the all-rounder's wicket as Chennai surrendered to Punjab's bowlers. Thus, they fell 54 runs short of their target. Chennai needs to quickly get back to winning ways to ensure that things don't go out of hands. As for Punjab, their aggressive brand of cricket has produced a fruitful result for them once again. Fans took to Twitter to speak about the game.

Next match of CSK is against SRH. Great news for SRH fans.

Need 2 points extra just for restricting this punjab team from 142 in 14 overs to 180 in 20 overs.

You deserve this CSK! @ChennaiIPL is nothing without Raina. pic.twitter.com/S82KOLplcu
No Bairstow because of lack of match practice? This CSK attack is literally designed to give batsmen batting practice come onn

Irrespective of where they end up, I’m loving this new brand of cricket by #PBKS. Mayank firing. And Bairstow in the mix (might happen next game only)…ufff…they could be one of most destructive batting line-ups. #IPL2022

Credit to Shivam Dube though. Don't think many people rated him but he's done well with the bat so far when some of the players that are rated higher have failed.

Liam Livingstone what a valuable player

Can bat anywhere between 1 to 6
Decent spinner & can both leg spin & off spin
I really don't understand what MSD's gameplan is in this innings tbh. Req rate is at 17, he's played 22 balls and scored 12. Hasn't shown any attacking instincts yet, it made sense till Dube was still there... Peculiar stuff.#IPL2022 #CSKvsPBKS
