Multan Sultan's player Kieron Pollard has been fined for giving a send-off to Abdullah Shafique during the ongoing PSL 8. The incident happened during match 20 between defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, and former winners, Sultans. After winning the toss, the defending champions elected to bat first. Fakhar Zaman got out on the third ball of the game. However, Mirza Baig and Shafique put together 50 runs for the second wicket.

After the wicket of Baig, Sam Billings came in and added another 69 runs for the team with Shafique. In the 13th over of the first innings, Pollard managed to take a return catch of Shafique. After this, the retired West Indies gestured for Shafique to return to his team's dug out. Meanwhile, the match referees have fined him

Pollard violated level 1 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. He breached Article 2.5, which read “Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match”.

Talking about the game, the Qalandars beat Multan by 21 runs. After batting first, Lahore amassed 180/9, thanks to Shafique's contribution and a half-century from Sam Billings helped the team reach a competitive total. In reply, the 2021 winners could only get to 159/7.

Meanwhile, the former West Indies skipper became the third player to hit 800 sixes in the shortest format of the game. Before him, another former West Indies skipper Chris Gayle did it a few years back. Currently, he has 1056 sixes to his name. Apart from this, both players have scored 12000 plus runs in the format.
