Iyer further revealed that no decision has been taken on Delhi Capitals’ skipper and and it's up to the franchise owners to take that call before the season. Notably, Rishabh Pant was handed Delhi Capitals’ reigns in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. However, with Iyer fit and available for selection, it will be interesting to see if the franchise continues with Pant, who did a remarkable job in the first leg or give the captaincy back to Shreyas Iyer.

"My shoulder... yes, I think the healing process is done. Now it's the last stage of achieving strength and range. So that's going to take about a month and the training is obviously going on. Other than that, I feel, I will be there in the IPL," Shreyas Iyer told The Grade Cricketer's YouTube channel:

"I don't know about the captaincy, it's in the hands of the owners. But the team has already been doing well and we are on top and that's what really matters to me. My main aim and goal to lift the trophy which Delhi has never done before "’

Further in the interaction, Iyer revealed how he and Ricky Ponting convinced Ravichandran Ashwin, who joined the Capitals in 2019, against running out the non striker - controversially known as 'Mankading'

"That decision was really tough to make. Ricky and I were really adamant on saying that we are not going to do that. Ravichandran Ashwin just had to decide on what we decided. He was like, 'OK, I am going to stick to whatever you guys have decided and I am OK with it until and unless the batsman does something weird.'"

The second leg of the Indian Premier League will be played in UAE. While the dates are yet to be revealed, the tournament is likely to be played just before the T20 World Cup. Delhi Capitals enjoyed great success in the first half . They had their best season till date and won six of their first eight games. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw were in blazing form but the middle order somewhat looked vulnerable. However, the return of Shreyas Iyer will be a massive boost for the franchise.
