A win over Royal Challengers Bangalore must have boosted Punjab Kings' confidence, but as a team, we still see them as a very vulnerable unit. KL Rahul has been doing the bulk of their scoring and is now the Orange Cap holder with 331 runs to his name. Form wise, thumbs up to him but his cautious approach at the start does not look a wise move to us. If he has to play risk-free cricket, then Punjab must open with Chris Gayle who has looked pretty decent. Also, it’s time for them to look ahead of Nicolas Pooran and bring in Dawid Malan which will provide a lot more stability in the middle order.

Harpreet Brar had a memorable debut and his confidence must be skyrocketing after the game. Mohammed Shami is another bowler who has bowled well. Ravi Bishnoi, Chris Jordan, all have been pretty decent. Riley Meredith copped a blow on his knee thus he might have to miss out against DC, giving Jhye Richardson another opportunity in the XI

For Delhi Capitals, it’s been smooth sailing so far. Their openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw have been magnificent. Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer also have few runs under the belt. They have a good spinner in Axar Patel, top quality pacers in Rabada, Avesh Khan and Ishant Sharma. Overall, they seem to have all their bases covered at the moment.

Pitch Report - The surface so far in Ahmedabad has been very good to bat. The bowlers must stick to tight lines to get the better of the batsmen as there is not much help on offer. The wicket will get slower as the tournament progresses but at the moment is heavily in favour of the batsmen.

Punjab Kings

Riley Meredith injured his knee in the last match thus Jhye Richardson can make a cut into the team. Also, there are high chances that Punjab will swap Nicolas Pooran with Dawid Malan in the next game. If Mayank Agarwal is fit, he may also be back in the XI.

X-Factor

Chris Gayle

Even though Chris Gayle hasn’t played a real big knock, he has looked dangerous in a couple of innings. It’s just a matter of time before he breaks the shackles and we all know what he can do on his day.

Probable XI

KL Rahul (c), Mayank Agarwal/Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Chris Gayle, Deepak Hooda, Dawid Malan, Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Chris Jordan, Riley Meredith/Jhye Richardson, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals are flying high and there is no reason for them to tinker with the winning combination.

X-Factor

Prithvi Shaw has been magnificent in IPL 2021. He’s been positive from the start and is one of the main reasons for the Delhi Capitals’ success. If he stays at the wicket for long enough, Delhi Capitals will have lots of runs to work with.

Probable XI

Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Steven Smith, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma, Avesh Khan
