Earlier, both teams played against each other in the Asia Cup 2022 in the group match and super-4 match respectively. India won the group match against the men in green on the back of brilliant knocks from the star all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. But in the super-4 match, Babar Azamโ€™s men cleared off the books with a five-wicket win over the men in blue.

Prior to that, everyone was stunned when Indiaโ€™s winning streak in the World Cup matches against Pakistan ended with a massive defeat by 10 wickets in the group match of the 20-20 World Cup 2021.

Both teams have announced their squads for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup of 2022. India has faced a major blow as senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the tournament due to their respective injuries. Whereas the Pakistani camp is set to welcome their ace speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi who is recovering from a knee injury.
