Indian Cricket Board announce replacement for Deepak Chahar in the ongoing South Africa ODI series

In a major piece update young all-rounder, Washington Sunder is set to replace the injured pacer Deepak Chahar in the ongoing three-match ODI series against South Africa. Earlier, Deepak Chahar sustained an injury in his back which forced him to sit out of the remaining two ODI’s of the series. Notably, Chahar was not included in playing xi for the first ODI played in Lucknow.

Prior to Deepak Chahar India faced two major blows as senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah and veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out from India’s plans for the T20 World Cup 2022.

Speaking of Washington Sundar, then he has impressed with his stellar performances in the recent County Championship in England. He has scalped 25 T20I wickets in 31 T20Is in his career so far. He can be a vital element for the Indian team in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa if the management gives him a chance in playing XI.

India has already lost the first match of the series against the Proteas by a margin of nine runs despite a brilliant knock of 86 runs.

In the series of injuries, it’s a major concern for the Indian management to figure out the best squad or that too best playing XI in the marquee tournament in Australia.

Interestingly, Deepak Chahar was on the list of standbys for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. So, it is a major setback for India’s preparations ahead of the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup. The men in blue will begin their campaign against the arch-rivals Pakistan on the 23^rd of October.

Team India had a forgettable outing in last year’s edition of the World Cup in 2021. They lost to Pakistan and New Zealand which forced their elimination from the tournament. Now, it will also be a challenging task for the Indian team to go ahead in the tournament with a lot of injuries.
