India and New Zealand crossed swords in the second of the three-match T20I series at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. New Zealand decided to bowl first after winning the toss against the men in blue. Batting first, the Indians posted a total of 191 runs losing six wickets in the first 20 overs of the match.
While chasing the target, Kane Williamson’s New Zealand fell 66 runs short of the target and lost the match by 65 runs. While everyone was in full awe of the star Indian batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav for his amazing century, some of the fans also praised the intent of the Indian team that they had shown in the match against New Zealand after moving on from a recent debacle in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

Speaking of the match, the Indians posted a total of 191 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The star Indian batting sensation and World number one T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav once again showcased his exceptional talent with the bat. SKY smashed a swashbuckling century with 111 runs off just 51 balls with 11 boundaries and seven sixes to his name.
Whereas senior Kiwi pacer Tim Southee took a hattrick in the very last over of the match by scalping the wickets of skipper Hardik Pandya followed by Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar in three consecutive balls. Other than him, Lockie Ferguson and Ish Sodhi also had 2 and 1 wickets, respectively.
While defending the target, the Indian bowling lineup bundled up the Kiwis only on the score of 126 runs in 18.5 overs. Deepak Hooda scalped four wickets by conceding 10 overs in 2.5 overs. Apart from Hooda, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj also scalped two wickets each alongside one wicket each claimed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Washington Sundar.
Eventually, India won the match by 65 runs and took the lead of 1-0 in the three-match T20I series. Suryakumar Yadav won the ‘player of the match award for his mind-boggling century off just 49 balls.
