The third one-day international between India and England was supposed to be a high-octane game. A game in which emotions were running high because it was Jhulan Goswami's last game.

But, in the fourth ball of the 43rd over when Deepti Sharma ran out Charlotte Dean at the non striker;s end, all the limelight shifted towards her. She ran out Dean to give India a famous 16-run win and also register a clean sweep of 3-0 against England in England.

When the run out happened, the cricketing fraternity became a divided house and later Deepti Sharma revealed that the team gave warnings to her and also informing the umpire before deciding to finally run her out.

Now, Heather Knight has come up with a rebuttal saying that if the run out was legitimate as implied by the laws of cricket, then India need not have justified it by saying that they had warned Charlotte Dean and only then had executed the run-out.

"It was a plan, because we had warned her repeatedly. We did things as per the rules and guidelines. We told the umpires as well, but she was there . We couldn't do much," Deepti said to reporters in Kolkata.

“The game is over, Charlie was dismissed legitimately. India were deserved winners of the match and the series. But no warnings were given. They don’t need to be given, so it hasn’t made the dismissal any less legitimate,” Knight said.

“But if they’re comfortable with the decision to affect the run out, India shouldn’t feel the need to justify it by lying about warnings,” she added.
