After Virat Kohli quit the T20I captaincy post the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Rohit Sharma was named India's full-time captain in the shortest format of the game. The opener was then appointed as India's ODI skipper as well. His first series as a full-time leader came during the three-match T20I series against New Zealand.

As a matter of fact, Harshal Patel made his international debut during this series itself. While he went on to win the Player of the Match award on his debut during the second T20I, he backed it up by picking two wickets in the third game. Thus, the all-rounder recently spoke about Rohit Sharma's style of captaincy.

Patel said that the "Hitman" gives ample freedom to his bowlers. He drew light on how Rohit gives a free hand to the bowlers he trusts. The 31-year-old even stated that he enjoys playing under captains like him.

"He will basically give you the ball and if he has confidence in you, he will not tell you about what to do. 'You know what to do, just go and do it'. So, he is that kind of a captain and I really enjoy playing under those kinds of captains," Harshal Patel said Star Sports show 'Follow The Blues'.

"I have my plans - Plan A, B, C so even when I get hit, I know what to do. I don't like a lot of outside input and he fits exactly into that kind of personality as a captain. He is very relaxed and he gives you the freedom," he added.

Following a sensational performance in the fourteenth edition of the Indian T20 league, Patel started to gain a lot of appreciation from several stalwarts. He is currently a part of India's T20I squad for the home series against the West Indies. Thus, it will be exciting to see if he does get a game during the three-match series.
