Senior Indian batter KL Rahul is under the scanner for a long time due to his poor run of form with the bat since the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Currently, he is in action with the men in blue in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Although, the batter couldn’t live up to the expectations in the first of the three-matches in Guwahati.
The 30-year-old showed some hands with four boundaries and a six to his name. But he couldn’t convert his short knock of 39 runs off 29 balls into a big knock. Though he smashed four boundaries and a six but unfortunately, he fell prey to a length delivery of Kasun Rajitha in the 41st over of the Indian innings.
Meanwhile, former Indian skipper Mohammed Azharuddin has also talked about the particular issues that needs to be addressed amidst the batting miseries of KL Rahul.
Here's what Mohammed Azharuddin said about KL Rahul
“I think consistency is the problem in KL Rahul's case. But I think there are coaches who should rectify his flaws. In my opinion, he is a good player but consistency is missing in his game,” said Azharuddin to PTI.
"I think Rahul is getting out in a lot of manners. Primarily, it is not the good balls that are getting him out. It is poor shot selection first up that is causing problems. When I took charge, it was all in pathetic condition. We will be hosting our second international match in three months time (vs New Zealand). We are very happy that the BCCI has recognized our hard work and matches are being allotted to us," he added later.
Currently, the veteran Karnataka batter is in action with the Indian team during the second of the three-match ODI series at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Guwahati. Speaking on a few other changes, star wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has made it to the playing XI of the men in blue in the penultimate fixture of the ODI series.
