On 9 July 2023, the three-match T20I series between India Women and Bangladesh Women began. The first match took place in Mirpur. Speaking of the match, India skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bowl first. While batting first, the home team managed to score only 114 runs for five wickets in 20 overs.

For India, Pooja Vastrakar, Minnu Mani, and Shafali Varma took one wicket each. Shorna Akhter was the highest scorer as she scored 28* runs off 28 balls, including two sixes. Apart from her, Shathi Rani scored 22 runs off 26 balls and Sobhana Mostary scored 23 runs off 33 balls. In reply, Smriti Mandhana and Shafali came out to open.

But, Shafali managed a three-ball duck. Then, Jemimah Rodrigues came out and scored 11 runs off 14 balls. After that, Smriti and skipper, Harmanpreet put up a partnership of 70 runs for the third wicket. Smriti scored 38 runs off 34 balls, including five fours while Harmanpreet continued to play her shots as she remained not out on 54 runs off 35 balls, including six fours and two sixes. Thus, India Women won the match convincingly with seven wickets and 22 balls to spare. Harmanpreet Kaur won the Player of the Match award.

After the match, during the post-match presentation, she said: “It was a great team effort. The bowlers, especially the young girls, bowled really well. I wanted to see how they are going to bowl in the first six overs, I think both of them understood the conditions very early. Apart from them, Deepti too bowled well. She has an experienced bowler and she showed that today. She is always ready to give her 100% for the team and she showed her character today as well. When you have batters like Smriti and Shafali, you need not worry too much. We wanted to finish four-five overs early and I am really happy we were able to do that.”
