When it comes to the shortest format of the game, opening partnerships enable a team to get to a big total. As for the Indian T20 League, there have been several iconic opening partnerships. Today, we shall be taking a look at the highest opening partnerships in the Indian T20 League:

1) 210* - Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul vs Kolkata in 2022:

Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul have scored the highest opening partnership in the history of the league. They added 210 runs against Kolkata. The fact that neither of them were dismissed makes this partnership even more iconic. They batted for all the 20 overs of the first innings.

The Proteas keeper-batter was absolutely sensational, to say the least. He went on to score 140 off just 70 balls. On the other hand, the Lucknow skipper Rahul scored 68 from 51 balls.

The opening combination of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were simply fantastic for Hyderabad during the 2019 edition. Both the batters were wreaking havoc, and scoring boundaries for fun. However, the major highlight for them has to be their ruthless opening partnership against Bangalore.

Warner and Bairstow added 185 runs against Bangalore. It was absolute carnage as both batters were hitting sixes all around the park. Although Bairstow was dismissed after scoring 114, Warner carried on, and scored an unbeaten 100.

3) 184* - Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn vs Gujarat in 2017:

The 2017 edition of the Indian T20 League witnessed a lot of "Lynnsanity". It all started in Kolkata's first game of that season as Chris Lynn and Gautam Gambhir showed no mercy on the now-defunct Gujarat-based team.

The two joined hands to score an unbeaten 184-run partnership. The Australian ended up scoring an unbeaten 93 from just 41 balls. On the other hand, Gambhir scored an unbeaten 76 from 48 balls. It is to be noted that this partnership came when Kolkata were batting in the second innings.

4) 183 - Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul vs Rajasthan in 2020:

Over the years, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have played some memorable partnerships for Punjab. However, the one against Rajasthan during the 2022 edition was their best. The Karnataka batter joined forces to add 183 runs.

In the process, Agarwal got to an amazing century. Rahul also scored a 69. However, their efforts went in vain as Punjab went on to lose the game by four wickets.

5) 182 - Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Hyderabad in 2022:

The 15th edition of the Indian T20 League didn't really turn out to be great for Chennai. However, their new opening pair, i.e. Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad, turned out to be one of the few positives for them. In MS Dhoni's first game as captain in the 2022 edition, Chennai's new opening pair went berserk against Hyderabad.

They added 182 runs. While Gaikwad scored a brilliant 99, Conway scored an unbeaten 85. Thus, the yellow army ended up winning this game by 13 runs.
