Senior Indian opener KL Rahul is under the scanner for his poor run of form with the bat for the last couple of months in international cricket. The 30-year-old failed to live up to the expectations in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 followed by a horrible run in the recently concluded three-match Test series against Bangladesh.

The Karnataka batter’s poor form is quietly becoming a big concern for the Indian team as the ODI World Cup year is about to arrive. Notably, the men in blue are also under scrutiny for their embarrassing loss against Bangladesh by a margin of 2-1 in the three-match ODI series.

Meanwhile, former legendary Australian speedster Brett Lee has come up with some suggestions and a name of a youngster who can replace KL Rahul in the near future if his timid form continues with the bat.

There are bigger milestones to achieve, and higher peaks to scale - Brett Lee on Ishan Kishan

"With this deadly double, Ishan has staked a strong claim to open for India in the ODI World Cup at home in 2023. Will this happen? I don't know. Should it happen? Hell, yeah it should. The guy just scored the fastest 200 in ODI history. But if he can show consistency, stay fit, and be around the next few months, he should be a sure-shot opener for India at the World Cup," Lee said in a video on his YouTube channel.

"Back Ishan to make it in the World Cup squad with an eye on the future and clearly, he would be on a high after that knock as he should be. However, a word of caution. Too much praise had led to cobwebs in the head. So, my advice to Ishan Kishan would be... forget about the milestone, forget about the double hundred as soon as you can. There are bigger milestones to achieve, and higher peaks to scale. Ishan Kishan has to forget about the euphoria of his double hundred. Just focus on the process stay fit and keep smashing big runs,” he added later.

Notably, Brett Lee’s acknowledgment of Ishan Kishan can be understood by the fact that he recently smashed a blistering double century against Bangladesh in the third and last of the recently concluded three-match series. It was also the fastest ODI double century as the 24-year-old took only 126 balls to achieve this feat.
