The ongoing second of the two-match Test series between Pakistan and New Zealand is will enter the fifth day tomorrow Friday, the 6th of January. Riding on the back of brilliant knocks of 74 runs each by wicketkeeper-batter Tom Blundell and Michael Bracewell alongside opener Tom Latham’s 62-run knock helped the visitors to post a total of 277 runs for the loss of five wickets before skipper Tim Southee declared the second innings of New Zealand.

So, the Blackcaps posted a target of 319 runs for the hosts to win the second Test match being played at the National Stadium in Karachi. To start the run-chase, the opening pair of Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq came in the middle to start the proceedings for the hosts.

But skipper Tim Southee and senior spinner Ish Sodhi had some other plans at the end of the fourth day. The duo completely destroyed the top order of Pakistan by scalping two wickets without conceding even a single run.

Earlier in the second Karachi Test, Pakistan posted a total of 408 runs in response to New Zealand’s total score of 449 runs. Middle-order batter played an unbeaten knock of 125 runs and smashed his career’s maiden Test century. Other than him, former skipper and veteran wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed also played a quick knock of 78 runs with 10 boundaries to his name.

Other than these two batters, opening batter Imam-ul-Haq also played a crucial knock of 83 runs with 10 boundaries and a six to his name.

Notably, New Zealand’s first innings was studded with the historic 10th wicket partnership of 104 runs between Matt Henry and Ajaz Patel when their team lost the nine wickets on the score of 345 runs.
