On 17 May 2023, Punjab Kings (PBKS) locked horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing IPL. The 64th match of the competition took place at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala. Before this clash, PBKS were in the eighth position with 12 points in 12 games. While DC were in the last position with only eight points in 12 games.
Speaking of the match, Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and opted to field first. For DC, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw came out to open the innings. However, both of them gave a solid start to the innings as DC scored 94 runs in 10.2 overs for the first wicket. Shaw managed a good comeback in the playing XI as he scored 54 runs off 38 balls, including seven fours and one six.
DC defeated PBKS by 15 runs
Warner also played a good inning as he scored 46 runs off 31 balls, including five fours and two sixes. After that, Shaw and Rilee Rossouw put up a 54-run partnership for the second wicket. Rossouw scored 82* runs off 37 balls, including six fours and six sixes. Phil Salt also remained not out on 26* runs off 14 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Thus, DC scored 213 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. For PBKS, Sam Curran took two wickets for 36 runs in four overs. In reply, Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan came out as openers.
But, Dhawan managed a golden duck as Ishant Sharma took his wicket. Then, Atharva Taide and Prabhsimran managed a 50-run partnership for the second wicket. Prabhsimran scored 22 runs off 19 balls. Then, Taide got retired out on 55 runs off 42 balls, including five fours and two sixes. He also stitched a 78-run partnership for the third wicket with Liam Livingstone. After that, other batters failed to chip in but Livingstone scored 94 runs off 48 balls, including five fours and nine sixes. Finally, PBKS scored 198 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Thus, DC won the match by 15 runs.
