The stage was set at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 25 April 2023 when Gujarat Titans (GT) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL. MI suffered a loss against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their last game. In contrast, GT won their last game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

So, MI were looking for a win while GT were looking to continue their winning momentum in front of the home crowd. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked GT to bat first. However, they suffered an early setback as Wriddhiman Saha got out after scoring four runs off seven balls.

GT managed a 55-run victory over MI  

Then, Shubman Gill played some delightful shots and scored 56 runs off 34 balls, including seven fours and one six. Skipper Hardik Pandya’s horrible run of form with the bat continued as he scored only 13 runs off 14 balls. Batter were struggling to score freely as GT were on 101 runs for four wickets in 12.2 overs. But, after that, Abhinav Manohar scored 42 runs off 21 balls and David Miller scored 46 runs off 22 balls. Rahul Tewatia played an outstanding cameo as he scored 20* runs off five balls, including three sixes. Finally, they put a mammoth total of 207 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For MI, Piyush Chawla took two wickets.

Apart from him, Arjun Tendulkar, Riley Meredith, Jason Behrendorff, and Kumar Kartikeya took one wicket each. But, during the chase, MI batters fell apart completely. Rohit Sharma scored two runs off eight balls and got out to Hardik Pandya. They lost six wickets for 90 runs in 13 overs. All top-order batters were absolutely clueless against GT spinners. Rashid Khan took two wickets for 27 runs and Noor Ahmad took three wickets for 37 runs. After that, Nehal Wadhera scored 40 runs off 21 balls, including three sixes and three fours. But, finally, they scored 152 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Thus, GT won the match by 55 runs.
