India and Sri Lanka locked horns in their second match of the super-4 stage of the Asia Cup 2022. It was a must-win encounter for the Indians but eventually, they ended up on the receiving end of a defeat against the Lankan tigers by a margin of six wickets. Now, the men in blue are in a miserable condition after losing two consecutive matches against Pakistan and then Sri Lanka.

Coming back to Pathan, the fans took no time in trolling him for his tweet expecting India to make it to the finals. They trolled the former speedster after the poor display of cricket from the Indian team.

Here’s how fans reacted to Irfan Pathan’s tweet:

Talking about the match, then the Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and asked the Indians to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Batting first, Rohit Sharma & co posted a total of 173 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Skipper himself remained the highest run-scorer in the inning for the Indian team.

Other than Rohit, Suryakumar Yadav was the only other batter who crossed the mark of 30+ runs. On the backs of these knocks, the Indian side managed to post a total of 173 runs in the 20 overs losing their eight wickets.

While chasing the target, the Sri Lankan team got a brilliant start from the opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. They both completed their respective half-centuries and also stitched a partnership of 97 runs for the first wicket. Eventually, the Sri Lankan team won the match by six wickets and make their strong chances to the final.
