On 7 April 2023, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) took on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing IPL. The 10th match of the tournament took place at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Both teams were coming off a loss in their respective last games. So, both teams were looking for a win in this clash.

Meanwhile, it was Aiden Markram’s first game for SRH as their skipper. He missed the season opener against Rajasthan as he was busy playing for South Africa against the Netherlands. So, all eyes were on him when he went for the toss. However, he won the toss and asked LSG to field first.

LSG registered their second win of IPL 2023

For SRH, Anmolpreet Singh and Mayank Agarwal came out as the openers. But, the pitch turned out to be a spin-friendly one as all Hyderabad batters failed miserably against spinners. SRH scored only 121 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Rahul Tripathi was the highest scorer with 34 runs off 41 balls. Along with him, only Anmolpreet scored 31 runs off 26 balls, including three fours and one six. But, it was a disappointing outing for both Markram and Brook as the Protea batter scored a golden duck and the England batter scored just three runs. For LSG, Krunal Pandya grabbed three wickets for 18 runs in four overs.

Along with him, Amit Mishra took two wickets for 23 runs in four overs while both Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur grabbed one wicket each. Then, for the chase, Kyle Mayers and KL Rahul came out to open the innings. But, Mayers got out on 13 runs off 14 balls, including two fours. Then, Deepak Hooda also got out only seven runs. After that, Pandya scored 34 runs while Rahul got out on 35 runs. Finally, they chased down the target in 16 overs with five wickets in hand. Thus, SRH suffered a horrible loss on the captaincy debut of Markram.
