Hyderabad hosted Rajasthan for the day's first game. Hyderabad won the toss and decided to bowl first, a decision that Rajasthan were content with. The visitors started in style with the opening partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Butler, stretching to 85 runs in just 31 balls. Butler was the first to depart after scoring a half-century – 54 off 22. On the other hand, Jaiswal scored identical 54 runs but used 37 balls. Skipper Sanju Samson added another well-made 55 runs as Rajasthan closed off at 203/5 in 20 overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal remained the star for Rajasthan with 4/17

However, the visitors could have reached a much higher score, making the target even steeper for the home team. The visitors kept losing regular wickets. T Natarajan remained the pick of the bowlers for Hyderabad, claiming two wickets for 23 runs in his three overs. Fazalhaq Farooqi also returned with two wickets but remained expensive as he conceded a hefty 41 in his four overs. Umran Malik bowled a collector's item to remove Devdutt Padikkal, which remained the only scalp for the young Indian pace sensation.

In reply, Hyderabad got off to a disastrous start losing two wickets in the first over without a single run on the board. Mayank Agarwal tried to steady it up for his side with 27 off 23 but fell prey to Yuzvendra Chahal's deception. He ended his game with figures of 4/17 from his four overs, remaining the star for Rajasthan as Hyderabad could only manage 131/8.

Next, in the Indian T20 League 2023, MS Dhoni's Chennai will look to improve from their first game, where they were massively outplayed by the defending champions Gujarat. They'll face Lucknow, led by star India batter KL Rahul. Interestingly, they started their campaign well with a 50-run win over Delhi on Saturday.
