The world's No. 1 batter, Shubman Gill, has been phenomenal throughout the ongoing calendar year. He has been phenomenal with the bat in all formats, except T20Is. His numbers in the shortest format have been decent, or, as we say, below par. However, there is no question over his place in the team; former India batter Aakash Chopra has spoken about his concern.

Gill, who made his T20I debut earlier this year, had a great start as he smashed a magnificent century against New Zealand. Soon, he played a marvellous knock of 77 runs in the fourth T20I against the West Indies in July this year. However, since then, he has been below par in the shortest format of the game. Speaking about it, Aakash Chopra said that Gill's number spoke about his inconsistency.

"There is inconsistency when it comes to Shubman Gill's T20I numbers. There are 1-2 big knocks, but around them, there are nothing but low scores. Also, against left-arm spin, it seems like there is an issue for him. To my understanding, he is trapped by the left-arm spinners inside the powerplay," Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"Tilak Varma is missing opportunities," says Aakash Chopra

Further speaking about rising Hyderabad star Tilak Varma, Aakash Chopra said that he is missing his opportunities. He also said that Tilak should be more consistent and careful in his place. "Tilak Varma is missing opportunities. He will have to be careful because his Ireland series was not good, and even here he is missing out while batting at No. 3. Against Australia, he had to bat a little down the order, says Aakash Chopra.

"No. 3 is already a difficult place to hold because it is still Kohli's. I think that both Rohit and Kohli will play in the 2024 T20 World Cup," Chopra further added. It's worth noting that, according to various news reports, the Indian Cricket Board is likely to go with experienced players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the upcoming T20I World Cup. It will give limited opportunities to young guns to prove their worth.
