India thumped Sri Lanka by a record 317 runs in the 3rd ODI match at Thiruvananthapuram. The dominance came after the Rohit Sharma-led side bowled out Sri Lanka by a measly 73 runs at the Greenfield Stadium.
Despite being such a low score, however, this doesn't feature in the top 10 lowest ODI scores of all time. Let's look at the top 5 lowest ODI team scores in the history of cricket.
5. Sri Lanka: 43 against Sri Lanka (2012)

Chasing a monumental 301 against South Africa the Tillakaratne Dilshan-led side faltered at just 43 runs in what has been one of the poorest batting display in the second innings. Only Kosala Kulasekara was able to get into a double-digit score (19). Morne Morkel with 4 wickets in 6 overs was the Player of the Match.
4. Zimbabwe: 38 against Sri Lanka (2001)

Kumar Sangakkara led Sri Lanka side thumped Zimbabwe by 9 wickets in the 2001 ODI match. The Zimbabwe team were all out at just 38 runs with only captain Stuart Carlisle getting to a double-digit score (16). Chaminda Vaas with 8 wickets in 8 overs was elected the Player of the Match.
3. Canada: 36 against Sri Lanka (2003)
In this match, Canada also fell to a record-low score of 36 runs. The Sri Lankan bowlers were too good for the Canadian team, with Upul Chandana taking 5 wickets and Nuwan Zoysa taking 3 wickets. The new Canada side had not faced a strong team before.
2. USA: 35 against Nepal (2020)

Just one batter was able to get to double digits in this ODI match. Sandeep Lamichhane with 6 wickets and Sushan Bhari with 4 wickets steamrolled the North American team to get them to the lowest ODI score ever.
1. Zimbabwe: 35 against Sri Lanka (2004)

In this match, Zimbabwe was bowled out for just 35 runs, the lowest score in ODI history. The Sri Lankan bowlers were on fire, with Chaminda Vaas taking 8 wickets and Muttiah Muralitharan taking 2 wickets. Zimbabwe's batsmen were unable to handle the pressure and were unable to score any meaningful runs. None of Zimbabwe's batters were able to get into the double-digit scores with Dion Ebrahim (7) coming on as the highest scorer for the team.
