The men in blue took on Sri Lanka in the third and last of the three-match ODI series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The hosts’ skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first at the tricky and mysterious turf of the Greenfield International Stadium.

The starting pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and young batter Shubman Gill gave prepared a strong foundation of 95 runs for the first. Later on, Gill smashed a brilliant century as he scored 116 runs off 97 balls with 14 boundaries and two sixes to his name. Just after Gill’s century, the fans witnessed yet another iconic knock from the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

Riding on Virat and Gill’s century, the men in blue posted a mammoth total of 390 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

While defending the target, the Indian bowling attack completely outmuscled the Sri Lankan batting lineup only on the score of 73 runs in 22 overs. Mohammed Siraj stunned everyone with his brilliant bowling as he scalped four wickets by conceding only 32 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Other than him, senior pacer Mohammed Shami and wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav also scalped two wickets each.
