Humans tend to hide their fears inside and only people close to them are aware of them. There is a wide range of fears that people have in their lives. Cricketers also have some of them against which they are fighting. The only difference is that their fears are known to the general public, courtesy of different interviews. The cricketers in question have achieved a lot on the field.
However, at the end of the day, they are humans. They too have their fears. Talking about phobias, some are very serious and a lot of people go through them. Today, we shall take a look at five legendary cricketers who have different phobias.
Five cricketers who have massive phobias
- Rohit Sharma - Fear of drowning
One of the modern-day greats, Rohit Sharma, has feared no bowler in the world of cricket. However, outside of the boundary, there is one thing he fears the most. He fears drowning.
Notably, he knows how to swim but apparently still has the fear of drowning. In one of the interviews, he admitted that he doesn't like to see the oceans' depth.
2. Harbhajan Singh - Fear of planes and elevators
The legendary off-spinner travelled to a lot of countries during his playing. However, for some reason, he is still afraid of flying. Also, he has a fear of elevators.
The two-time World Cup winner fears using elevators which is not surprising as a lot of people in India do. A few accident incident and people not used to using them can trigger fear in the minds for elevators.
3. Virat Kohli - Fear of Bankruptcy
The former India skipper is one of the richest cricketers in India and the world. He can afford any luxury in the world he desires. Notably, he has the fear of going bankrupt.
In a 2016 interview, he revealed that watching players going broke has left a scar in his mind. This kind of phobia is not common and can be induced by someone else's experiences.
4. Brett Lee - Fear of heights
The fearsome pacer from Australia terrorized great batters in his era. After all, he clocked 150 kmph just for fun and had good line and lengths to his repertoire. However, there is one thing which feared him the most.
It is the fear of heights that fears him the most. A few years ago, he revealed that he tried to get rid of it. However, he hasn't succeeded and is unsure whether he will be able to get over it or not.
5. Ben Stokes - Fear of choking
The newly-appointed England Test skipper Ben Stokes has a phobia of choking. Unlike the above-mentioned cricketers, this has induced only a month ago. Ahead of the eventually dreadful Ashes 2021 for the Three Lions, he took a pill and started choking as he took it incorrectly.
Thankfully, everything was under control and is now leading a Test side. However, the fear of choking has left a scar in his mind.
