The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is going to begin on 9 February 2023 in Nagpur. This series against Australia is going to be a crucial one for India. The Men in Blue will look to continue their domination at home by winning this series. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni was an instrumental skipper for India across all formats.

Under his captaincy, India won the 20-20 World Cup in 2007 and the 50-over World Cup in 2011. Then, Dhoni led team India to the Champions Trophy victory in 2013. Even, the Men in Blue became the top-ranked team in the longest format of the game under his captaincy. Records have also shown that Dhoni is the most successful captain in the history of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

MS Dhoni has never won a Test match as the Indian skipper in Australia

During his tenure, Dhoni defeated Australia in eight Tests and lost four while one was drawn. He managed to win three Border-Gavaskar trophies at home in 2008, 2010, and 2013 respectively. But, Australia whitewashed them 4-0 in Australia. Then, in the next tour of Australia, India lost one while drawing another game under Dhoni’s captaincy. After that, he took retirement from the longest format of the game. So, fans have come up with trolling comments over MS Dhoni regarding his terrible captaincy record in Australia in Tests.

Australia last won a Test series in India in 2004/05. After that, Australia played 4 Test series in India and lost all 4 of them. They only managed one Test win in 2017 out of 14 matches. Speaking about his overall captaincy record in Tests, Dhoni led India in 60 Test matches. In those matches, he managed 27 wins while losing 18 matches and drawing 15 matches. Currently, both teams are preparing hard for the series. Australia are in Bengaluru while Indian players have reached Nagpur for preparations. However, the Aussies are not playing any tour or practice games this time around ahead of the series.
