Virat Kohli has been having a torrid time in the Indian T20 league 2022. After scoring an unbeaten 41 in Bangalore's first game as Punjab, he has struggled. So far, he has only scored 119 runs in eight games of the 2022 edition.
To make matters worse, he registered his second consecutive golden duck on Saturday. Kohli is yet to score a half-century in this edition. His lean patch isn't just restricted to the cash-rich league, as he has been struggling in international cricket as well. He hasn't been able to consistently score runs like in the past. This has led to him being severely criticized and trolled.
However, Kevin Pietersen has come in support of Kohli. He took to Twitter on Saturday to say that every legendary cricketer has gone through a phase like the batting maestro. Further on, he said that all of them do overcome their shortcomings and start delivering on the big stage once again.
"You want a fact? Every single great of our game has been through what Virat is going through. Want another fact? They all get through it and deliver on the big stage again…" read Kevin Pietersen's Tweet. Thus, it instantly went viral, and several fans agreed with him.

Every single great of our game has been through what Virat is going through.
Want another fact?
They all get through it and deliver on the big stage again…
However, the clash between Bangalore and Hyderabad turned out to be a one-sided affair. After bundling the Faf du Plessis-led side for 68 in the first innings, the orange army chased their total with 12 overs to spare. Pietersen spoke about Kohli's form yesterday as well, and said that the Delhi batter is in a "dark place". He said that the game needs Kohli to score runs.
“I think he is at a point and having been at that point in my career on a couple of occasions, it is not nice. It is a very lonely, lonely place especially when you have all eyes on you. Every single thing is Kohli, Kohli and Kohli. He is in that dark place, I just hope it ends quickly because the game needs him to score runs,” said Kevin Pietersen while speaking to Star Sports.
