England and India locked horns in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham on Saturday. After winning the toss, the hosts decided to bowl against the full-strength Indian team. Batting first, the visitors had a great start as skipper Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant scored 49 runs in just 4.5 overs. Sharma (31) became the debut wicket for Richard Gleeson as the former was caught by Jos Buttler.

Virat Kohli (1) became the second victim of the Lancashire pacer as he was caught by Dawid Malan in the seventh over. Pant (26) got out in the same over as he was caught by the English skipper. Suryakumar Yadav (15) started well but his inning was cut short by Chris Jordan. Hardik Pandya, who scored a fifty in the last game, became the second wicket of Jordan. And, suddenly the Men In Blue were tottering at 89/5.

Ravindra Jadeja and Dinesh Karthik (12) stitched a partnership of 33 runs before the latter was run out. Harshal Patel (13) played a handy cameo before he got out to Jordan. Jadeja's unbeaten 46 off 29 balls, including five fours, took the team to a fighting total of 170/8. In reply, the Three Lions had no answer to a brilliant new-ball bowling from the Rohit Sharma's men.

Jason Roy was caught at slips by Sharma off Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the first ball of the chase. Buttler (2) was caught behind by Pant off Kumar in the third over. In the fifth over, Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up Liam Livingstone (15) with an off-cutter. Right after the powerplay, Harry Brook (8) was caught at long-on by Suryakumar off Yuzvendra Chahal. Malan's (19) struggles were ended by Chahal in the 10th over.
