However, Team India selectors dropped veteran batter, Cheteshwar Pujara while giving a chance to youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad. But, still, Sarfaraz Khan failed to get a place in the squad and that left the former Team India cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar surprised. In an interview with Sports Today, he slammed the selectors for ignoring the Mumbai batter once again.

“Tell him that his performances are being recognized.” - Sunil Gavaskar

Gavaskar also said that selectors need to talk with him and tell him that his performances are getting recognised. He said: “Sarfaraz Khan has been scoring at an average of 100 in all past three seasons. What does he have to do to be picked in the squad? He might not be in the XI, but you pick him in the team. Tell him that his performances are being recognized. Otherwise, stop playing Ranji Trophy. Say, it’s of no use, you just play IPL and think you are good enough for the red ball game as well.”
