Chasing a 157-run total, Jonny Bairstow gave the team a sensational start. He looked to send every ball out of the park and created pressure on the opposition from the first over itself. However, Fazalhaq Farooqi got his wicket in the 3rd over to get his team back into the game. The Englishman got out after scoring 23 runs in 15 balls. Shikhar Dhawan and Shahrukh Khan then added 38 runs for the second wicket to take Punjab closer to the target.

Umran Malik, eventually, broke the partnership as he had Shahrukh Khan (19 off 10) caught at long-on. One over later, Washington Sundar accounted for the wicket of Mayank Agarwal, leaving the game evenly poised. Punjab were 71 for 3 in 7.5 overs, at that stage.

But Liam Livingstone then produced another stellar knock and ruined Hyderabad's hopes of winning the game. He played an unbeaten knock of 49 runs in 22 balls, helping the team chase down the score in 15.1 overs. Shikhar Dhawan also made a handy contribution of 39 off 32 balls.

Earlier, Hyderabad managed to a reasonable score of 157 runs in the first innings. The new opening pair of Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma didn’t get the team off to a great start. Priyam Garg played a stellar knock in the last game but couldn’t replicate that one on Sunday.

Rabada had him caught at mid-off in the 3rd of the over innings, however, Tripathi and Abhishek Sharma then did a decent recovery. The duo added 47 runs for the second over before the former failed to convert the start into a big score.

Harpreet Brar accounted for Tripathi’s (20 off 18) wicket in the 9th over and also sent Abhishek Sharma (43 off 32) back to the hut in his next over. The Punjab spinner also took the wicket of Aiden Markram (21 off 17) to put the team in all sorts of trouble at 96 for 5 inside 15 overs.

For Punjab, Harpreet Brar returned with impressive figures of 3 for 26 in 4 overs. Nathan Ellis also picked 3 wickets but conceded 40 runs in 4 overs.
