Discarded India all-rounder Shivam Dube did well for the IPL 2023 winners, Chennai Super Kings. He hit the most sixes in the tournament. Even though Dube has a shortcoming against the ball that rises above the waist against fast bowlers, he managed to do his job. Notably, the left-hander played for India in 2019 and 2020. At the time, he was seen as the replacement of Hardik Pandya, who went through back surgery.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic and his poor bowling didn't help his cause. After Pandya returned to the team and the T20 World Cup 2020 shifted in 2022, Dube was dropped. Since then, he has been working to make his way back into the team. Meanwhile, during an exclusive interview with KhelNow, the Mumbaikar was asked about the competition with the likes of Pandya and Vijay Shankar.

I am my only competition: Shivam Dube

During the interview, the 30-year-old said that he has been eyeing a place in the ODI World Cup 2023 squad. Notably, Pandya is the frontrunner in the all-rounder, and Shardul Thakur, who is known to be a freak with the bat and ball, will be in contention.

Meanwhile, Shivam said he can only focus on his performances. He added that he is only his competition when asked about the competition with Pandya and Shankar. Notably, the latter is nowhere in contention. He last played for the Men In Blue in 2019.

"Yes. Of course (eyeing a place in India's World Cup squad). Every player wants to play in a World Cup, more so when it's happening in India. But I can only focus on my own performances, rest is up to the selectors," Dube told MyKhel.

"No. I am my only competition. I don't look at other players. I train every day to become better than I was the day before," he said on being asked if he takes Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar as his competitors.
