‘Dhoni ka chela…’ – Fans troll Suresh Raina for his miserable debut in the Abu Dhabi T10 League

The 35-year-old announced his retirement from all forms of cricket earlier this year in the month of September.

Suresh Raina

Former star Indian batting all-rounder Suresh Raina recently made his debut in the Abu Dhabi T10 League while playing for the Deccan Gladiators. It was the second match of the day which took place between the Gladiators and Team Abu Dhabi. Raina was expected to make a big score in this shortest format of the game.

He fell prey to leg-spinner Peter Harzaglou only on the second ball he faced. Raina played the ball towards long-on in the hands of Andrew Tye. The 35-year-old went back to the pavilions without scoring a single run in his first appearance at the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

This miserable outing from the Ghaziabad batter gave a chance to fans to troll him later and they also dragged the name of former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. Notably, Dhoni and Raina had played for Chennai in the Indian T20 League.

Here’s how fans reacted to the two-ball duck of Suresh Raina:

Speaking of the second T10 League match between Deccan Gladiators and Team Abu Dhabi, the gladiators decided to bat first after winning the toss. Riding on the captaincy knock of 77 runs off just 33 balls from Nicholas Pooran, Gladiators managed to post a massive total of 134 runs for the loss of six wickets in the 10 overs.

While chasing the target, Team Abu Dhabi could score only 99 runs for the loss of six wickets in the entire 10 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter James Vince ended up as the highest run-scorer for the team with his knock of 37 runs off 19 balls with four boundaries and two sixes. Eventually, Gladiators registered a win by 35 runs and skipper Pooran won the ‘player of the match award.

Talking about the appearance of some Indian cricketers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, former off-spin great Harbhajan Singh will play for Delhi Bulls alongside all-rounder Stuart Binny who will be donning the colors of New York Strikers in the tournament. Two-time World Cup winner and former Indian pacer S. Sreesanth is also playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 League for Bangla Tigers.
