On 11 April 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) host Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL. DC lost all of their first three matches while MI lost both of their first two games. Hence, both teams were looking for their first win of the season. Meanwhile, DC handed a debut cap to Yash Dhull in the game.

Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked DC to bat first. For DC, the skipper David Warner and Prithvi Shaw came out to open the innings. Warner scored runs in all three matches before this clash. But, his strike rate was very poor, and hence, all eyes were on him when he came out to bat.

MI defeated DC by six wickets in IPL 2023

Shaw failed again as he scored just 15 runs off 10 balls. Then, Manish Pandey showed some fight and scored 26 runs off 18 balls, including five fours. After that other batters failed also as DC were struggling on 98 runs for five wickets in 12.3 overs. After that, Axar Patel managed a partnership of 67 runs for the sixth wicket. Patel played some wonderful shots all around the ground and scored 54 runs off 25 balls. He hit four fours and five sixes. Warner scored 51 runs off 47 balls but his strike rate was again very poor. Then, the rest of the batters failed again and DC got bundled out for 172 runs in 19.4 overs. 

For MI, both Piyush Chawla and Jason Behrendorff took three wickets each. Then, for the chase, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan came out for the opening. Both these players managed to give a great start as MI reached 68 runs in six overs. Then, their first wicket fell on 71 runs as Ishan got out on 31 runs. Tilak Varma and Rohit Sharma put up a partnership of 68 runs. Tilak scored 41 runs while Rohit scored 65 runs off 45 balls. But, Tim David and Cameron Green held their nerves and won the game on the last ball. Thus, MI won their first game of IPL 2023 after a thrilling finish in Delhi.
