The conundrum over the replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 is increasing with every passing day for the Indian management. Everybody has tried to find the answer to this question in his/her own way. Just a day back, skipper Rohit Sharma also made a statement regarding the same concern. And now, head coach Rahul Dravid has come up with some new things to convey to the Indian cricket fans and the media as well.

Rahul Dravid also answered the question if senior pacer Mohammed Shami will replace Bumrah in the marquee tournament or not. He went on clear all the speculations that are being made about the replacement of the ace speedster in the eighth edition of the tournament.

“We still need to closely observe the resources that we have at our disposal. In terms of who the replacement will be, we are still not sure. We have time till October 15 and luckily for us, we already have Shami in the standbys. Due to his medical conditions, he obviously couldn't play for us in South Africa and Australia series,” said Rahul Dravid in his statement.

“Shami is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) at the moment and we will have to get reports on how he is recovering and what his status actually is after 14-15 days of COVID. We will take a call once we have received his report. We just expect him to keep things simple and play good cricket,” he added later.

Notably, India is coming off a win in the recently-concluded three-match T20I series against South Africa. The men in blue clinched the series after registering successive wins in the first two matches. During this series, the Indian management decided to play Mohammed Siraj as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah.
