You can either love or despise him, but you can't ignore him. Gautam Gambhir is a person who struggles to avoid making headlines. Gambhir's gesture towards the home crowd sparked a social media frenzy on Monday following Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) exciting last-ball triumph over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match. Gambhir was ecstatic as Lucknow defeated Bengaluru by a single wicket.

Lucknow had 3 wickets in hand, and the middle-order duo of Mark Wood and Jaydev Unadkat needed just 5 runs to win from the final 6 balls. RCB took two wickets off those six balls, but LSG pulled off a thrilling victory thanks to a slip-up by wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik on the last ball of the over.

LSG pulled off IPL's third-highest run-chase vs RCB

Understandably excited following his team's victory, Gautam Gambhir shook hands with RCB players and gestured to the home crowd by putting his finger to his lips. On social media, video has suddenly become very popular.

One of the best run chases in the history of the T20 league was the Super Giants' 213-run triumph over the Royal Challengers. It ranks fourth overall, after Rajasthan Royals (224 vs Punjab Kings), Mumbai Indians (219 against Chennai Super Kings), and Rajasthan Royals (219 vs Deccan Chargers). The majority of the 212 runs scored by RCB were scored by Virat Kohli (61), Faf du Plessis (79), and Glenn Maxwell (59).

The top three batters for LSG were Marcus Stoinis (65 off 30), Nicholas Pooran (62 off 19), and Ayush Badoni (30). With the win, Lucknow Super Giants move to the top of the IPL 2023 standings, overtaking Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are currently in seventh place.

During the boisterous celebrations, Gambhir entered the centre as the players from both teams gathered to shake hands. Gambhir continued to look fired up as he approached RCB icon, Virat Kohli. The two exchanged a quick gaze and gave each other a firm handshake.
