The 15th match of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 pitted Mumbai Indians New York (MINY) against the Seattle Orcas (SO). Winning the toss, the Orcas elected to field first. The MI sister franchise batted well to reach 194/8 in their 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran scored 68 off 34 with three fours and seven sixes. Skipper Kieron Pollard’s quickfire 34 off 18, including a boundary and three maximums, boosted the total past the 190-mark. For the Orcas, Harmeet Singh and Imad Wasim scalped two wickets each while Cameron Gannon and Andrew Tye returned with one wicket each.

In reply, the Orcas cruised to the target with four balls remaining. They were aided by a half-century from opening batter Nauman Anwar, who scored 51 off 30, including six fours and three sixes, and Heinrich Klassen’s masterclass knock of 110* off 44 balls, including nine fours and seven sixes. They reached 195/8 in 19.2 overs. Trent Boult remained the pick of the bowlers for MI New York with figures of 4/31 in four overs. He was followed by Rashid Khan with 2/41 and David Weise and Nosthush Kenjige who claimed one wicket each.

The match remained memorable for several reasons. Firstly, Kieron Pollard hit the longest six in MLC history, a 110-meter monster against Cameron Gannon in the second ball of the 12th over. Secondly, Heinrich Klassen dominated Rashid Khan in the sixteenth over of their innings. He scored 24 runs off his six deliveries including three maximums, a four, and a double.
