The 12th day of the Indian Premier League 2023 witnessed another thrilling match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Both teams were at the bottom of the points table as they were yet to open their winning account. But MI finally registered their first win of the season as they defeated DC by 6 wickets.

Meanwhile, DC skipper, David Warner, who is currently the orange cap holder, smashed his third fifty of the season. However, all his half-centuries came in the losing cause. Despite being the highest run-scorer in the league so far, Warner never looked in great touch as in all four innings he was seen struggling to time the ball perfectly.

The same happened against MI on Tuesday, April 11 as he scored 51 runs which came off 47 deliveries which included 6 fours but he couldn’t hit a single six during his knock. He was present on the ground till 18.3 overs but never timed the ball for a six. If he had accelerated his strike rate, the team could’ve achieved a much better total in the first innings.

DC were rescued by allrounder Axar Patel who played an explosive knock of 54 runs off just 24 balls. He smashed 4 fours and 5 sixes during the knock due to which the team achieved a respectable total of 172 runs. However, it wasn’t enough as MI won the match in the last ball of the match where 2 runs were required and Tim David and Cameron Green kept their nerves and pulled off a great victory.

Meanwhile, a few days ago, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag slammed Warner for his slow innings against Rajasthan Royals in which the let-hander scored 65 runs off 55 deliveries. Sehwag advised Warner to learn something from the young RR batter Yashasvi Jaiswal.

"I feel it is time that we tell him in English now so that Warner listens to it and feels hurt. David, if you are listening, please play well. Score 50 in 25 balls. Learn from Jaiswal, he hit it in 25 balls. If you cannot do that, do not come and play in the IPL," Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
