‘Chiku ne Menon ki le li’ - Fans react as video of Virat Kohli’s ‘main hota to out tha’ statement to Nitin Menon during Ahmedabad Test goes viral

Team India are currently busy playing against Australia on day five of the ongoing Ahmedabad Test. Virat Kohli was the star of the show on day four as he scored 186 runs off 364 balls. It was his 28th Test ton and 75th international century. The century came in the longest format of the game after a long gap of 1205 days.

However, during the series, Virat Kohli got involved in a controversial dismissal in Delhi. Nitin Menon gave him out during India’s first innings. Kohli was batting on 44 runs when he got trapped in an LBW. Umpire Nitin Menon gave him out and Kohli went for a review. During the replay, it was seen that the ball might have hit both the pad and bat at the same time.

But, the third umpire, Richard Illingworth did not overturn the decision and thus, Kohli got out. Fans were not happy with such a decision against the star batter. Then, in the third Test in Indore, Nitin Menon made some howlers. Even, he will be officiating in the upcoming home ODI series against Australia. Now, a video has gone viral from day five of the ongoing Ahmedabad Test, where Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling the 35th over of Australia’s second innings.

On the fourth delivery of that over, the spinner appealed for an LBW against Travis Head but Nitin Menon showed no interest. Then, they took a review and in replays, it showed the ball just clipping the edge of the leg stump. Hence, the umpire’s call will be final. So, the decision remained the same. But, Virat Kohli came up with a hilarious statement that reads: “main hota to out tha” (If it was me, I was definitely given out there). Listening to that, Menon was seen with a smile and giving a thumbs up to the veteran batter.
