All eyes were on team India as they were looking to set up a good total in the first innings of the Delhi Test on 18 February 2023. It was day two of the match and the home side finished on a high after day one. Australia got bundled out for 263 runs and the Men in Blue finished with a score of 21 runs without losing any wickets.
So, fans were hoping for a good batting performance from the batter on day two. It only could help them to gain a comfortable lead as the home side had to bat in the fourth innings of the match. But, they faced a batting collapse and got bundled out for 262 runs. Thus, Australia managed to gain a one-run lead.
Team India batters failed miserably against the spin trio of Australia in Delhi
The first wicket fell after India scored 46 runs in 17.1 overs. KL Rahul got out for 17 runs off 41 balls. After that, skipper Rohit Sharma went back to the dugout quickly as he scored 32 runs off 69 balls. Cheteshwar Pujara also failed to make his 100th Test match memorable as he managed a seven-ball duck only. Then, Virat Kohli scored 44 runs off 84 balls, including four boundaries. However, he got out in a controversial way. Then, Shreyas Iyer and Srikar Bharat scored four and six runs respectively.
So, team India were struggling as they lost their seventh wicket for 139 runs. But, after that Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin managed a solid partnership of 114 runs for the eighth wicket. Then, Ashwin got out for 37 runs while Axar Patel scored 74 runs off 115 balls, including nine fours and three sixes. For Australia, Nathan Lyon took five wickets while both Todd Murphy and debutant, Matthew Kuhnemann took two wickets each. Pat Cummins managed one wicket only.
