‘Chamchagiri at its best’ - Fans slam Yuzvendra Chahal for claiming to be happy for MS Dhoni if CSK would have defeated RR in IPL 2023 final

Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a disappointing IPL 2023 after being the runners-up in the 2022 season. They finished in the fifth position with 14 points in 14 games and failed to qualify for the playoffs. However, it was another good season with the ball for RR spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal. He picked up 21 wickets in 14 games, at an economy of 8.18.

In the 2022 season, Chahal won the Purple Cap for taking the most wickets. However, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the recently concluded edition of the tournament and MS Dhoni managed to bag his fifth IPL title. Regarding that, Chahal came up with a statement that left RR fans shocked and they slammed him on social media.

While speaking to News 18, Chahal said that he would have been happy for MS Dhoni if CSK had defeated RR in the final of the competition at Ahmedabad. He said: "It was an emotional moment. Not only me, but whole India wanted him to win. And it’s a good thing and I’m really happy to see that. He is a legend and the way he is, if CSK would have defeated us in the final, I would have been equally happy for him." Before this recent edition, reports were there it might be Dhoni’s last season.

Hence, all fans were hoping to see him win this league for the fifth time. He did it and then, confirmed that he is most likely to continue one more year. Dhoni said: “If you circumstantially see, it's the best time to announce the retirement. The easy thing for me to say is thank you and retire. But the hard thing to do is to work hard for nine months and try to play one more IPL season. The body has to hold up. But the amount of love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them to play one more season.”
