Carlos Brathwaite names his daughter ‘Eden’ after iconic Eden Gardens

From Brian Lara to Jonty Rhodes, there have been several cricketers who have gone on to name their child after a particular stadium, or place. As a matter of fact, several cricketers have named their kids after stadiums and places in India. Even outside the cricketing world, Chris Hemsworth, who happens to be a popular actor, named his daughter "India".

Carlos Brathwaite has joined the list as he recently went on to name his daughter after a stadium. The explosive all-rounder has named his daughter "Eden" after cricket ground Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Brathwaite decided to name his daughter "Eden Rose Brathwaite".

Moreover, he even made a reference to the iconic “REMEMBER THE NAME” phrase. It is to be noted that Ian Bishop had said this line during the 20-20 T20 World Cup 2016 Final when Brathwaite hit four sixes in the last over to win the WC for the men in maroon.

The aggressive all-rounder took to Instagram to welcome his newly-born daughter. While promising to always love his girl, he also mentioned his wife. Thus, his post went on to win several hearts.

“REMEMBER THE NAME Eden Rose Brathwaite D.O.B 2/6/22. You were worth the wait you gorgeous little girl. Daddy promises to love you with all his heart. Thank you @jessipurple246. You are strong, you are resilient, and I know you’ll be an amazing mother. Love you both x,” wrote Carlos Braithwaite in the caption of the post. 

Brathwaite grabbed the headlines after scoring an unbeaten 34 from 10 balls in the final of the 2016 edition of the 20-20 WC.

Besides, he had also taken three wickets in that game. As far as overseas cricketers and their connection with India goes, even AB de Villiers, who gets immense love in India had revealed that he wished to name his third child Taj after the monument Taj Mahal. David Warner’s youngest daughter’s name is also "Indie".
