Mumbai Indians are in action in the ongoing IPL. But, ahead of this season, they dealt a major blow as Jasprit Bumrah got ruled out of the tournament due to his back injury. He last played for Team India in September 2022. In January 2023, he got named to the squad for the home series against Sri Lanka. But, before the series, he got ruled out. Now, he is set to miss the upcoming WTC final for India also. But, now reports have come out that the Indian Cricket Board are confident that Jasprit Bumrah will be fit and available for the upcoming World Cup 2023 in India.

Jasprit Bumrah has been the ace pacer for team India and Mumbai Indians in the last few years

Before this IPL edition, Australia came to India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and a three-match ODI series. In the first two Tests, Bumrah was not named to the squad. But, there were reports that Jasprit Bumrah might get included in the last two Tests. Regarding that after the NZ series, team India skipper, Rohit Sharma said: "Not too sure about Bumrah, I am hoping he plays next (last) two Tests (against Australia), we don't want to take any risks with him as back injuries are always critical. We have a lot of cricket coming back after that also. We are in constant touch with physios and doctors in NCA. The medical team will give him as much time as he wants".

Recently, after losing the IPL season opener, MI skipper Rohit Sharma said: “From the last six to eight months I am used to playing without Jasprit Bumrah. Of course this is a different setup but someone needs to put their hand up and step up. We can't keep dwelling on it. Injuries are not in our control, we can't do much about it. The other guys in the setup are quite talented as well. We need to give them that support”.
