In a major and shocking piece of news, India has faced a major blow as the head Coach Rahul Dravid tested positive for COVID-19 just ahead of the commencement of the Asia Cup 2022. The management has decided to give him a rest ahead of the tournament along with the other members of the staff.
He was also not a part of the Indian contingent that recently toured Zimbabwe for the three-match ODI series. Indian side under the leadership of KL Rahul whitewashed the hosts with a score line of 3-0. The Indian side won all the three ODIs in an emphatic fashion.
Fans urged the Indian Cricket Board to bring former head coach Ravi Shastri
The Indian team will begin their campaign in the tournament against the arch-rivals Pakistan on the 28th of August at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In the wake of a very short span of time, it is very hard that Rahul Dravid will recover on time before the tournament. The board of control for cricket in India has confirmed the news through a press release.
“Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team’s departure to the UAE for Asia Cup 2022,” said BCCI in the press release.
“Mr. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report. The rest of the team will assemble in UAE on 23rd August 2022,” further added in the release.
Although, just after this announcement from the Indian cricket board, Indian cricket fans have come up with an unusual demand. They urged the management to bring Ravi Shastri back in the role of coaching.
Although, there are very fine possibilities that Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey might take up the charges in the absence of Rahul Dravid during the Asia Cup 2022.
Here’s how Indian fans reacted after Rahul Dravid tested positive for the covid-19 virus.

JUST IN: Rahul Dravid won't be travelling to the UAE, immediately at least. In his absence, arrangements are being made to send VVS Laxman to join the Indian team at the Asia Cup.https://t.co/2gVLLHpwhE
