So which are the biggest blunders made by umpires in the 14 editions so far? Today, we shall be taking a look at the top 10 umpiring blunders in the Indian T20 league.

1) Bangalore vs Mumbai (2019)

The 2019 edition saw an absolute thriller between Mumbai and Bangalore. However, a major umpiring blunder ensured that this game gets remembered for all the bad reasons. As Bangalore needed seven runs to win off that final, Lasith Malinga bowled a dot ball and Mumbai won the game. However, the replays showed that he overstepped and the umpire missed it. This meant that Bangalore could have still got a ball if the no-ball was called.

2) Delhi vs Punjab (2020)

Although this game went into a Super Over, it could have been avoided if the umpire was vigilant enough to not call a ‘Short Run’. The umpire thought that Chris Jordan hadn't completed a run whereas he actually did. Due to this, the game was tied and Punjab lost in the Super Over.

However, the square-leg umpire Bruce Oxenford wasn't consulted before it and the decision was reversed. This controversial decision led to a lot of heat. Even the captain cool MS Dhoni entered the pitch to argue. It resulted in a huge controversy, as it seemingly was a no-ball for height.

4) Punjab vs Kolkata (2018)

During a game between Punjab and Kolkata, a no-ball was called of Andrew Tye's bowling. However, the replays on the big screen showed that his foot was within the line. The on-field umpires for this game were C. Shamshuddin and Abhijit Deshmukh.

5) Mumbai vs Hyderabad (2017)

In this game, David Warner struck a boundary in the last ball of the over and again found himself on strike for the next ball of the next over. Such a big blunder went unnoticed until the commentators noticed it. This was during the seventh over of the first innings.

6) Mumbai vs Hyderabad (2021)

In this case, the umpire failed to call a wide. Jason Holder bowled a bouncer that went over Suryakumar Yadav's head. However, the umpire called it a bouncer and not a wide. This shocked one and all.

7) Punjab vs Rajasthan (2021)

During the UAE leg of the 2021 edition, the umpire went on to make several blunders during the Punjab innings. There was a no-ball which wasn't called. A few deliveries, which were clearly wides, were termed as legal deliveries. This once again caused a major controversy as Punjab lost the game by a really close margin.

8) Chennai vs Delhi (2021)

This incident occurred during the second innings when Delhi were chasing. Dwayne Bravo bowled a delivery that went outside the pitch strip. Despite the rules suggesting it be called a no-ball, the umpire declared it a legal delivery. This decision shocked many experts.

9) Chennai vs Mumbai (2015)
