Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul injured himself during a match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. Rahul was chasing the ball which was going towards the boundary rope. During this, he pulled his hamstring and looked in a lot of pain.

Resultingly, he was ruled out of the IPL as well as from the Test Championship final against Australia which will take place at The Oval on June 7. Meanwhile, Rahul took to social media to inform his fans that he underwent successful surgery on his right thigh and will now be recovering. Rahul also mentioned that he is eagerly waiting to return to the cricket field.

Here is KL Rahul's post

"Hi everyone, I just got done with my surgery - it was successful. A big thank you to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I was comfortable and everything went smoothly. I'm officially on the road to recovery now. I'm determined to get back to my best and get back on the field. Onwards and upwards!" KL Rahul stated in his post.

Before the World Test Championship, Team India got a third big blow in the form of Rahul, however, Ishan Kishan has replaced him. Earlier, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of this big final. Bumrah has been troubled by a back injury for a long time due to this, he could not play even in the 20-20 World Cup last year. Due to not being able to fully recover from the injury, Bumrah has not even landed in the 16th season for Mumbai Indians in IPL. Although it is expected that he will be fine before the ODI World Cup later this year.

Also, the middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer got injured just before the IPL and was ruled out of the entire season for Kolkata Knight Riders due to injury. Iyer would also have been included in the WTC team. At the same time, young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was badly injured in a car accident last year and is unlikely to return to the cricket field this year.
