KL Rahul’s stint in IPL 2023 ended prematurely after he sustained an injury while fielding in a league game vs Royal Challengers Bangalore in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Following the incident, Krunal Pandya stepped up to lead the team in the absence of the regular captain. LSG qualified for the Playoffs of IPL 2023 and failed in the Eliminator vs Mumbai Indians.

After their IPL 2023 exit, a 4-year-old fan of KL Rahul selected him as his favourite player. The video posted by his father on Twitter attracted the attention of the star India batter who promised a signed jersey for the little munchkin. “@klrahul@IPL My 4 yr old picked his best player,” wrote the user. “That's so sweet. Drop me a DM with your address. I'd be delighted to give him my signed jersey,” KL Rahul replied quoting the tweet.

KL Rahul was a huge absence for LSG in their Eliminator match loss to MI on Wednesday in Chennai, according to former SRH coach Tom Moody. LSG had qualified for the Playoffs for the second time in a row, however, they were eliminated in the Eliminator round once more. After batting first, MI posted 182 in their 20 overs.

Prerak Mankad and Kyle Mayers were lost early, which was the worst conceivable beginning for the LSG pursuit. Marcus Stoinis was able to stabilise the innings for a little while, but Krunal Pandya's dismissal sparked a significant batting collapse that resulted in Akash Madhwal recording 5/5 in 3.3 overs and the Lucknow side being bowled out for 101 as MI advanced.

"I think KL Rahul was a massive miss for LSG. This is the second time they have reached the playoffs, so that in itself is a great achievement for a new team. I think even though at the point that KL Rahul injured himself, you can just about guarantee that he would have scored three if not more half-centuries in the rest of the games, and that was missing," Moody said.
