Gujarat Titans will try to take advantage of the additional chance to make it to the IPL 2023 final match after losing to Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1. The Hardik Pandya-led team will strive to go to a second straight final when they play Mumbai Indians on May 26 in Ahmedabad, but it won’t be simple for the reigning champions. The Gujarat Titans are out to show themselves as they attempt to maintain their title defense after becoming known as one of the most outstanding teams ever since their beginning and journey to the title last year.

The all-powerful batting lineup of Mumbai Indians will square up against GT’s outstanding bowling lineup in a much-anticipated match. In the IPL 2023, Mumbai has frequently relied on their batting prowess to save an inexperienced bowling attack.  The Mumbai Indians’ batters, including Camero Green, Nehal Wadhera, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav, have been fantastic, but their bowling unit is peaking just in time.

Rohit Sharma does not believe in an anchor’s role in T20 Cricket

After a three-wicket surge that helped his team win their important final league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Akash Madhwal emerged as MI’s pace ace with a stellar performance of 3.5-0-5-5 against LSG. Veterans Jason Behrendorff (14 wickets in 11 matches) and Piyush Chawla (21 wickets in 15 matches) have also been outstanding, and Chris Jordan, who is usually costly, had a strong performance of 2-1-7-1 in the Eliminator.

As such, ahead of their all-important game against GT, MI skipper Rohit Sharma was seen practicing in the nets. Fans took no time to start trolling the experienced batters. Unfortunately, he hasn’t had a fruitful time in IPL 2023, recording the unfortunate feat of having the most ducks in IPL.

Recently, Rohit Sharma opened up on the declining need for an anchor in T20 Cricket. He said, “As I see it, there is no role for an anchor now. It is just how T20 cricket is played these days unless you are 20/3 or 4, which is not going to happen every day. Once in a while, you will be in that position and then someone needs to anchor the innings and finish off to a good score. There is no role for an anchor anymore, guys are playing differently.”
