Luckow Super Giants’ (LSG) Avesh Khan had a disappointing IPL 2023 with the ball as he took just eight wickets in nine games, at an economy of 9.76. But, he made headlines after their game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. LSG won that tense match on the last ball and Avesh Khan was in the middle.

After completing the winning run, Avesh was seen throwing his helmet on the ground in a fully aggressive manner. For that, he got also penalised as he breached the Code of Conduct. Now, in an exclusive chat with Indian Express, he expressed his regret for such a celebration on the field.

“I feel sad that I shouldn’t have done it” – Avesh Khan

He said: “Yeh social media mein mera mahool bana rehta hai and helmet incident thoda jyada hogaya tha (I agree the helmet incident was a bit over-the-top). I realised later that I shouldn’t have done this. It just happened in the heat of the moment. I now feel sad that yaar yeh sab cheez nahi karna tha (I feel sad that I shouldn’t have done it).”

After two sensational IPL seasons, Avesh had a disappointing IPL this year and regarding it, he said: “If you compare my past two IPL seasons before this one, it went the way I wanted too. However, even though the season didn’t go well as per my standard, I maintained my economy rate, which is less than 10. I bowl crucial overs 4 or 5th over and later in death.” Speaking of that, RCB set a mammoth target of 213 runs for LSG. Nicholas Pooran played a blinder of a knock as he scored 62 runs off 19 balls. But, the match came in a situation where one run was needed of the last ball and LSG were nine wickets down. On that delivery, Bishnoi and Avesh managed to complete a single run on byes and sealed the game for their team.
