On 15 May 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) took on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing IPL. The 62nd match of the ongoing tournament took place at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. However, GT had a chance to seal their place in the playoffs by winning this clash in front of the home crowd.

While SRH badly needed a win to stay alive in the race of the playoffs. Speaking of the match, Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to field first. For the home side, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha came out as openers. But, Saha failed for a three-ball duck as Bhuvneshwar Kumar took his wicket.

GT defeated SRH by 34 runs 

Then, Gill and Sai Suddharsan stitched a partnership of 147 runs for the second wicket. Sudharsan scored 47 runs off 36 balls, including six fours and one six. Then, other batters even failed to cross the single-digit mark as GT scored 188 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Gill smashed 13 fours and one six to score his maiden IPL ton, Gill scored 101 runs off 58 balls. For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar stole the show as he picked up five wickets for 30 runs in four overs. Along with him, T Natarajan, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Marco Jansen took one wicket each.

In reply, SRH batters were absolutely clueless since the start of the chase. Mohammed Shami and Yash Dayal struck early as SRH scored 45 runs for four wickets in the first six overs. Shami took three wickets while Dayal managed one. Then, Mohit Sharma picked up three wickets in his first two overs and SRH were struggling at 97 runs for seven wickets in 13 overs. Klaasen scored 64 runs off 44 balls, including four fours and three sixes. Both Mohit and Shami finished their spell with four wickets each. Finally, SRH scored 154 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. GT defeated them by 34 runs.
